Smart Lady

So here's that smart lady I was talking about with her new glasses. She's so smart, it kind of irritates me. Stop looking at me, know-it-all!

In other news, the no coast craft-o-rama is rapidly approaching (it starts friday!!) I'm ironing my little heart out, and this is what my cats are doing:

Thanks, guys.

The Mighty Peacock

Peacocks! I think they're the new bird in town. They won't replace all the little sparrows and wrens we've been seeing on many a fitty tee, but they're going to stand right next to them. My peacock illustration actually spawned from a custom business card order. A customer wanted a peacock, so I drew one. I can't be 100% certain, but I don't think I've ever seen a peacock in real life. I drew mine up based on an amalgamation of google images. I know what the art instructors say about drawing from photos, but whatevs. Anywho, I just made some new enclosure cards with my peacock motif, but first, here's what some other peeps are doing with the p'cock:

Women's Peacock Hoody from Palmer Cash.

Nouveau Peacock earring from imogeneANDannie.etsy.com.

Eco-Friendly Wooden Cards from Night Owl Paper Goods.

Set of 2 Peacock Tea Towels from wrapables.com.

Set of 10 peacock enclosure cards from me.

Two cool posters

On your honor

I Took The Handmade Pledge! BuyHandmade.org

I did it! I feel a little nervous, mainly because I don't know anybody who hand-makes play station games, but I think this organization is really just hoping for a solid effort. You can click on the image to go to their site and read other people's pledges. My sales have been awesome so far this holiday season, and I'm hoping to give it back. Well, not ALL of it. I do need to eat...some sushi...
Apparently everyone's sales have been awesome, because I just read an article that said Etsy beat their previous sales record on Thursday, and not just by a hair, by 17%! Go Etsy!
Whelp, this is a workin' Saturday, so I best get on my post office shoes.

I seeeee

So, today I ran a buffet of errands-making copies, mailing packages, buying computer stuff. It was kind of a drag. The low point was getting a new prescription at the optometrist. I just can't help but feel like an uneducated consumer of glasses and glasses-related products and services. There was a sign outside the store that promised $99 for an exam AND contacts. That's not what I paid. But I got some really cute glasses that I'm pretty excited about...I hope I'm still excited in two weeks when they're ready. They make me look so smart. If I had them right now, I'd put them on and look in the mirror and tell myself: " You did a fine job at the optometrist. Your choices were well thought out and executed. You are truly a gem." And I'd believe every word, on account of that smart person looking back at me...Yep.
As I scurried around uptown, I had just 10 minutes to pop into Urban Outfitters and realized that I need to start gambling and winning, on account of I need money to buy these:

These are the coolest little coffee cups, and if you go look at the detail images, they stack and sit in a convenient metal holder that takes up very little space. I want them.
Even though it might not seem like it, I do occasionally shop places other than Urban Outfitters. I also have my eye on these cups.

They're from shoshonasnow.etsy.com. She makes the sharpest looking pottery I've ever seen. (Not sharp as in pointy, sharp as in really cool.) Even though it might not seem like it, I do sometimes shop at places other than Urban Outfitters and Etsy. Sometimes I go to Target.

These delicate teacups seem edgy when glazed in a cool gray.
In other news, I'm taking the night off tonight in favor of sitting on the couch eating popcorn. Tomorrow: Gocco-ing my brocade onto jersey scarves. Hooray!

People Power!

OK, so every once in awhile I turn into a super contest geek...And I have positively got my nerd on with this card design/photo contest from flickr and moo. Basically, you can upload 10 designs or photos, and then they go into this pool of images that people can have printed on holiday cards and voila, you're famous. The best-selling card wins 2000 bones!
Go here to enter and also peruse lots of awesome designs:
MOO's Super Duper Holiday Card Competition & People-Powered Holiday Card Store
So, that's all I'm going to say for now so as not to jinx myself. Here's the images I've uploaded so far:
Moo Card #6
Moo Card #5
Holiday Card Design #1
Holiday Card Design #3
Holiday Card Design #2
Holiday Card Design #4
Fun! I though momentarily that I might be competing with myself for card sales, but all my Holiday cards this year will either be gocco-ed or ink-jetted, so it's a different product, right?

Favorites, again.

Here's some of my etsy favorites for your consideration. I'm too sleepy to further witticize.

Oh, p.s., check out pinstrype.blogspot.com. It's an awesome new blog that just "dropped," as the kids say.

Wrap it Up!

Oh, it was soooo hard to get it together and update my blog. I just kept looking at that cute kitty post and it made me feel so peaceful and content. But life goes on, kittens grow up, after all.
So, today I'm ironing. Scarves, Dishtowels, place mats, napkins, you name it, I'll put a hot iron on it. I'm getting ready for this event:

It's the first event of my holiday season, so I hope it goes awesome, but that I don't sell toooo much stuff so I have some left for the no coast craft-o-rama on November 30th and December 1st and i like you's Handmaiden's Craftmas Spectacular on December 9th. But obviously, selling too much is an awesome problem to have.
In the design department, I made myself my very own brocade, and I thought I'd show you some samples of the brocade magic:

Oh yeah, I guess I also used it in the Wrap it up poster on top of this post. Anywho, I have to get back to the ironing board.
